The Artist

Self-Portrait in 8th Grade

Fantasie-Impromptu No.4 Op.66 by Chopin
Performed by Jennie at 12 years old

As a curious artist, Jennie built a tradition based on the idea of spreading the joy of music from her teacher’s studio to the local communities. She particularly enjoyed building the music programs, certificates, raffle prizes—and of course, adding a little more joy to everyone’s day. In her high school years, she hosted many piano recitals at senior centers which created a demand and received high praise. It came with rigorous preparation and a few hundred hours of piano practice, but the event became a community favorite. We were only able to retrieve her hosting portion, but she would also play the piano as the last performer in her recitals. This tradition of hosting recitals was then passed down to her sister for the next couple of years.
